International Exhibition & Forum On Afforestation Technologies Concluded

Riyadh– The activities of the International Exhibition and Forum on Afforestation Techniques, which were held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense were concluded late yesterday evening.

It was inaugurated by the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture and Chairman of the Board of Directors of National Center for Development of Vegetation Cover and Combating Desertification, Eng. Abdurrahman bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Fadhli.

The Exhibition was organized by the Center in coordination and cooperation with the Ministry of Environment from May 29-31 at Riyadh International Convention & Exhibition Center (RICEC) with the participation of more than 80 exhibitors and 90 speakers from more than 20 countries and organizations, in addition to holding more than 20 dialogue sessions and workshops, and 17 external participations.

During its three days, the Exhibition witnessed a remarkable turnout from visitors, as thousands of them and followers witnessed the broadcasting of dialogue sessions and scientific workshops through the platform, and also witnessed the signing of more than 29 agreements that varied between (memorandums of understanding, cooperation and agreements of associations and companies) to plant millions of trees with a number of government agencies.

The Exhibition’s goal was to provide a platform to encourage government agencies, semi-governmental organizations, bodies, companies and non-profit organizations to become targeted stakeholders to combat desertification and increase vegetation cover areas, as well as highlight the Center’s pioneering role in developing vegetation cover and combating desertification, and reviewing the most important research, studies and technologies in the field of afforestation and combating desertification, and contributing to achieving a number of goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 for sustainable development.

The Exhibition also provided an opportunity for local and international companies to present their products, projects and innovations in the field of afforestation, combating desertification and mitigating its effects, developing and protecting vegetation, and building bridges of communication among experts, major investors, company heads, decision makers, technical solution providers, academics and researchers specializing in the environmental sector and its issues, in addition to the experts and those interested in the climate, and to identify the leading success models around the world to benefit from them, and to attract global expertise appropriate to our environment.

It is worth mentioning that the International Exhibition & Forum On Afforestation Technologies aimed to focus on achieving a set of investment objectives, including: highlighting investment opportunities in the environmental sector and enhancing attendees’ knowledge of them, in addition to concluding agreements and memoranda of understanding, and demonstrating the advantages and aspects of support for various opportunities.

It also opens a window for communication to launch local and research partnerships with local, regional and international universities and research centers.
