Islamic University’s Festival of Cultures and Peoples Draws Strong Turnout on Third Day with Global Showcases

Madinah: The 14th Festival of Cultures and Peoples, organized by the Islamic University of Madinah, is experiencing a significant increase in visitor turnout, with attendees engaging in cultural experiences that showcase the richness of global cultures.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the festival welcomes visitors from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Sunday through Thursday. On Fridays, the event is open during evening hours only, from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and will continue until 19 Shawwal, 1447 AH.

The event features various pavilions that offer unique cultural experiences. The Malawi pavilion provides insights into the country's tea cultivation, highlighting its role as one of Africa's leading producers. In contrast, the Afghan pavilion offers a taste of 'Sheryakh,' a traditional handmade ice cream crafted from milk and cream with rose water flavoring.

Visitors to the Malaysian pavilion are taken on a virtual tour of Taman Negara, which is renowned as one of the world's oldest rainforests. Meanwhile, the Mauritanian pavilion showcases the Eye of the Sahara, a notable geological formation.

The Moroccan pavilion draws attention to traditional spices such as cardamom, which are integral to Moroccan cuisine, emphasizing its culinary heritage.

The festival includes students from over 90 countries, who provide heritage and cultural performances. These activities, alongside entertainment and educational programs for all age groups, facilitate cross-cultural exchange and promote values of coexistence and tolerance.
