Japanese Stocks Close at Nearly Four-Week Low

Japan: Japan's benchmark Nikkei 225 stock index closed today at its lowest level in nearly four weeks, weighed down by declines in technology shares following the sharp losses posted by the Nasdaq index overnight.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the Nikkei index fell 2.11% to 66,819.05 points, marking its lowest closing level since June 12, and extending losses for a third consecutive session. The broader TOPIX index also saw a decline, dropping 1.37% to 4,006.43 points.

The technology-heavy Nasdaq index had closed sharply lower yesterday, driven by the performance of Micron Technology and other semiconductor companies. This downturn is linked to growing concerns over the sustainability of Wall Street's rally, which has been largely driven by the artificial intelligence boom.
