Jeddah to Host OIC Water Ministers Conference

Jeddah: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will host and preside over the fifth session of the Conference of Ministers Responsible for Water of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) from October 20 to 22 in Jeddah, aiming to enhance cooperation and partnerships among OIC member states.

According to Saudi Press Agency, key discussion topics will include leveraging modern technologies and digital transformation to support sustainable water resource planning and management. The agenda will also focus on developing joint water initiatives and projects, stimulating investment and financing in the water sector, and exploring innovative and sustainable financing mechanisms. These efforts are crucial for enhancing water security and sustainability across Islamic countries.

The Kingdom’s presidency of this session underscores its leading regional and international role in addressing critical water challenges. Saudi Arabia places great importance on the water sector by implementing national strategies focused on achieving water security, supporting environmental sustainability, and improving water resource management efficiency.

The Kingdom also supports global cooperation and the exchange of expertise to promote integration and achieve sustainable development goals.
