The Central Fish Market in Jeddah Governorate is a meeting point for fishermen and merchants in the governorate and neighboring regions on the western coast of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, due to the fame it has gained since its establishment some 70 years ago.
The fish market, also known as “Al-Bankala”, is close to Jeddah Islamic Port and the popular markets in Jeddah, and a favorite place for seafood lovers who find there a wide variety of seafood, including oysters, fish and shrimp.
The market is one of the favorite places for visitors because of its organization, for selling all ingredients needed for food preparation, and for preparing the most delicious popular dishes.
The market covers an area of about 30,000 m2; it sells both local and imported fish, up to 2,600 tons a month. It provides 1,500 jobs for Saudi youth.
The central fish market includes a restaurant, a large number of fish shops and a place where fish is sold at auctions.
