Jeddah:The Red Sea coastline of Jeddah has emerged as a premier destination for marine tourism and water sports, attracting visitors with its unique blend of excitement and environmental sustainability.
According to Saudi Press Agency, public beaches in Jeddah are open to all, with the Saudi Red Sea Authority licensing operators to enhance service quality and ensure visitor safety. This initiative is part of a broader effort to leverage Jeddah's coastal offerings.
Captain Thamer Nahas, a Jeddah Municipality official in charge of coastal monitoring, stated that regular inspection tours are conducted along the waterfront to prevent illegal discharges and maintain water quality. The municipality is also working with relevant authorities to delineate distinct zones for water sports and swimming.
Designated swimming areas are equipped with monitoring posts and rescue towers manned by qualified lifeguards from sunrise to sunset. Additionally, there is a plan to develop free public beaches, which will be equipped with essential services and located based on hydrodynamic studies to ensure calm waters, safe currents, and easy access.
