Riyadh: King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) has launched the Saudi Quantum Network (SQN) Alliance, a national initiative that brings together government entities and technology companies to position the Kingdom as a leader in quantum communication research and applications, and to enhance its standing in cybersecurity and advanced technologies.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the alliance is launched in partnership with leading national and global organizations, including Cybrani, a subsidiary of Aramco Digital; Salam; Microsoft; and Cisco, aiming to establish an integrated ecosystem that strengthens data and communications security in Saudi Arabia and reinforces its position as a global innovation hub.
CEO of Internet Services Unit at KACST Eng. Ibrahim Alshadokhi stated that the Saudi Quantum Network Alliance represents a national model of collaboration between government and industry. The initiative aims to pilot the development of a quantum network within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and to build national capabilities and expertise in this field.
He added that the alliance, which includes participation from the Saudi Research and Innovation Network (Maeen) at KACST, reflects KACST’s commitment to advancing the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 by shaping the future of quantum communications through experimental deployments in real-world environments and linking them with national research and education networks (NRENs) thereby contributing to national research, development, and innovation priorities.
Launched as part of International Internet Day celebrations hosted at KACST, the Saudi Quantum Network Alliance underscores the Kingdom’s commitment to leading innovation and future sciences on both regional and global fronts.
