A shutdown of thousands of New Jersey buildings is threatened. The clock is ticking down to the end of access to homeowners’ association-run facilities for 1.5 million residents. State government must act now to extend the COVID-19 civil liability protection law for homeowners’ associations (HOAs) that expires at midnight December 31. Unlike businesses and municipalities, HOAs are governed by unpaid volunteers on boards of directors.
