World-class medical institutions strive to find sustainable health innovations to maintain top healthcare services, address operational challenges, and manage potential crises.
The Patient Flow and Capacity Command Centre at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center (KFSHRC), which adopts AI-driven healthcare management, utilized Big Data analysis to advance action plans and guide interventions during crises.
Since its inception, the center has carried out over 300,000 medical interventions, significantly reducing bed waiting time from 32 to 6 hours and emergency care waiting times by 14%. Additionally, waiting periods for pharmacy and laboratory services have improved, with over 90% of beneficiaries receiving service in less than 15 minutes.
The center also monitors patient flow to maintain healthcare quality and ensure compliance with operational standards at low costs. It aims to mitigate risks and address potential internal and external challenges, utilizing AI to predict patient numbers and
prepare proactive operational plans.
As a platinum sponsor of the Global Health Exhibition, to be held in Riyadh from October 21 to 23, KFSHRC will showcase the center’s operational methods. It will introduce the center’s vision as one of the region’s leading healthcare entities and explore its role in raising efficiency and guaranteeing the best healthcare outcomes and patient experience.
The center’s operations system is based on predicting demand for healthcare services, monitoring hospitalized patients, ensuring the efficiency of their rooms environment, and coordinating surgery schedules for critical cases.
The Patient Flow and Capacity Command Centre was launched in September 2021, embodying KFSHRC’s commitment to improving healthcare outcomes and operational efficiency. For the second consecutive year, KFSHRC has been ranked first in the Middle East and Africa and 20th globally in the list of the world’s top 250 Academic Medical Centers. According to the 2024 Brand Finance rankings, it is recognized
as the most reliable healthcare brand in the Kingdom and the Middle East. Additionally, in the same year, Newsweek magazine ranked it among the world’s top 250 hospitals.
