King Salman Royal Reserve Sees 55% Increase in Bird Species

Riyadh:The King Salman bin Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority has announced a notable increase in the biodiversity and wildlife within the reserve, with a recorded growth of over 55% in the number of bird species.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the number of bird species in the reserve has risen from 190 to 296, which constitutes about 60% of all bird species recorded in Saudi Arabia. This significant increase underscores the reserve's environmental importance and biodiversity.

The growth is attributed to the authority's continuous efforts to protect and develop natural habitats and enhance wildlife stability. These initiatives have also led to the documentation of several important and endangered bird species, including the griffon vulture, lappet-faced vulture, sooty falcon, and Egyptian vulture.
