KSrelief and UK Collaborate on $10 Million Project to Aid Yemen’s Vulnerable Communities

Riyadh: Advisor at the Royal Court and Supervisor General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah and Acting Executive Director of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) Carl Skau have signed a cooperation agreement to support vulnerable groups in Yemen's Al-Mahrah and Hadhramout governorates via video conference. The signing was attended by UK Deputy Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Dr. Alice Burt.

According to Saudi Press Agency, under the agreement, KSrelief and the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office will each provide $5 million towards a $10 million financial package allocated to the WFP. This funding aims to aid the project in Al-Mahrah, Hadhramout, Aden, Al-Dhale, and Lahij governorates.

The project focuses on addressing the food needs of the most vulnerable by offering asset-creation support activities and improving access to food through conditional cash transfers. This initiative seeks to reduce dependence on humanitarian aid by transitioning targeted households from Phase 4 acute food insecurity to greater stability. It includes rehabilitating productive infrastructure, implementing vocational training programs, enhancing beneficiaries' skills, strengthening local authorities' capacities, and activating governance systems for sustainable community asset management.

This agreement is part of the Kingdom's ongoing humanitarian efforts, delivered through KSrelief, to assist those in need and affected by global crises.
