Omdurman:Khartoum: A team from the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) recently visited its health and water projects in Omdurman, Khartoum State, Sudan.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the team inspected Omdurman Teaching Hospital, the largest in Sudan, where KSrelief had supplied a 730 KVA generator following the restoration of security in Khartoum State. Prior to this, the hospital operated with flashlights. KSrelief has also provided modern medical equipment for emergency, intensive care, radiology, and surgical units, which has enabled the hospital to perform approximately 60 surgeries daily. Additionally, KSrelief established the hospital's first oxygen station, producing 80 cylinders daily.
The team also assessed the impact of KSrelief's contributions to the Saudi Maternity Hospital and Al-Buluk Specialized Children's Hospital. Generators provided by KSrelief have helped both facilities remain operational during power outages. Furthermore, KSrelief has funded the installation of oxygen stations at these hospitals, which are expected to be completed soon.
In the water sector, KSrelief is rehabilitating a water treatment station that benefits over 1.5 million people. The provision of two 1,000 KVA generators with transfer switches has increased the station's productivity from 25% to 70%, thus stabilizing the water supply to Omdurman. This has resulted in the provision of safe drinking water and a reduction in waterborne disease risks.
These initiatives are part of Saudi Arabia's ongoing humanitarian efforts through KSrelief to support the health and water sectors across Sudan.
