Libya Welcomes UN Two-Month Truce Announcement in Yemen

Tripoli– Libya welcomed the initiative of the Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General for Yemen, in which he announced that a two-month truce had been reached, starting from the beginning of the blessed month of Ramadan.

In a statement today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Libyan Government of National Unity expressed its hope that this step would contribute to reaching a permanent agreement that guarantees a comprehensive settlement of the crisis in Yemen.

The ministry affirmed its support for all efforts and initiatives that contribute to finding a political solution, foremost of which are the current inner-consultations hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as the GCC initiatives, executive mechanisms and the outcomes of the comprehensive national dialogue, in order to achieve permanent reconciliation that preserves the unity and independence of the state of Yemen and brings security, stability and peace to the country, the Yemeni people and the entire region.
