Local Source In Diyala: A Security Threat To The Villages Of Waqf Basin Northeast Of Baquba

Diyala, The villages of the Waqf Basin in the province of Diyala witnessed displaced dozens of families because of the increased activity of Daesh's cells in the region.

A local source in Diyala, who asked not to be named, told the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) today that the villages of Abu Karma in the area of Abu Sidon, northeast of Baquba within the Waqf basin witnessed the displacement of dozens of families because of the growing activity of cells and the escalation of operations targeting security agencies and civilians.

He added that most of the families who have been engaged in agriculture left its work and agricultural lands and areas in the villages of Abu Karma, which has become safe havens for Daesh's cells in search of safe areas. Stressing that a real security threat began to hit the villages of the Waqf basin if there were no large-scale military operations to stop this security threat, which threatens the areas of Diyala and the lives of civilians.
