Madinah Municipality Boosts Cleaning and Sanitation Operations for Ramadan

Madinah: Madinah Regional Municipality continues to implement field operations to intensify cleaning, sterilization, and environmental sanitation as part of its operational plan for the holy month of Ramadan, aiming to enhance the urban landscape, improve quality of life in Madinah, and safeguard environmental and public health.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the municipality said that field teams carried out 941 inspection tours for environmental sanitation and cleaning to monitor public sites and address environmental observations. Several abandoned vehicles were also removed from streets and public squares to reduce negative visual elements and improve the urban scene.

It added that sterilization and disinfection operations covered 12,359 sites across Madinah, using 225 liters of disinfectants and pesticides to limit the spread of pests and promote a safe and healthy environment.

The municipality reported that 65,413 tons of waste were processed at landfill sites within an integrated waste management system designed to ensure safe and sanitary disposal.

At the health inspection level, specialized teams conducted intensive efforts to ensure food safety in commercial establishments. A total of 975 samples were tested, of which 912 were found fit for consumption, while 63 were deemed unfit, and the necessary regulatory measures were taken accordingly.

The municipality stressed the continued implementation of its operational plans throughout Ramadan by intensifying field inspections, cleaning, and environmental sanitation efforts to provide a healthy and safe environment for residents and visitors.
