Makkah: The Makkah Municipality has intensified its monitoring and awareness campaigns targeting food establishments across Makkah, particularly in the central area, as part of its preparations for Ramadan 1447 AH, aiming to enhance food safety standards, ensure compliance with health regulations, and provide a safe food environment for residents, pilgrims, and visitors to the Grand Mosque.
According to Saudi Press Agency, in recent weeks, municipal field teams carried out 3,474 inspection visits to food outlets, restaurants, commercial markets, and public health-related establishments. The visits focused on verifying the safety of food products, ensuring operational readiness, and confirming adherence to municipal regulations and approved health standards.
To raise awareness, the municipality conducted 166 educational visits to food establishments and commercial centers. The initiative sought to promote sound health practices, improve employees' overall appearance, ensure compliance with personal hygiene and preventive measures, and disseminate international best practices in the cleanliness of facilities, equipment, and tools.
These campaigns are part of an integrated operational plan designed to enhance the preparedness of food establishments in Makkah and ensure the provision of safe food services that meet the needs of pilgrims while accommodating the anticipated increase in demand during Ramadan.
