Makkah Museums Preserve Islamic Heritage and Cultural Identity

Makkah: Museums in Makkah serve as cultural and historical gateways reflecting the city's deep Islamic heritage and its significance as the birthplace of Islam and the Qibla of Muslims. They preserve historical memory, document Makkah's architectural and cultural evolution, and enhance cultural awareness among visitors from around the world.

According to Saudi Press Agency, marking International Museum Day on May 18, the city's museums highlight the role of cultural institutions in preserving heritage and fostering intercultural understanding. Among the most prominent is the Holy Quran Museum in the Hira Cultural District, which showcases rare Quran manuscripts and the historical development of Quranic writing and preservation through interactive displays.

The Two Holy Mosques Architecture Exhibition documents the historical care and expansion of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque through rare artifacts, architectural pieces, historic photographs, and models. Makkah's museums continue adopting modern technologies and interactive experiences to enrich cultural tourism and support the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
