Roukoz after ‘Strong Lebanon’ meeting: Government formation in Hariri’s hands
The "Strong Lebanon" parliamentary bloc on Tuesday maintained that the formation of the new government is in the hands of Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri, renewing calls to rely on the results of the May legislative polls to shape the Cabinet lineup.
"The government formation is in the hands of the PM-designate; everything else that is being said in media has no relation to the reality," MP Chamel Roukoz said following the bloc's weekly meeting.
"It is the Prime Minister-designate who forms the Cabinet, and we asked for common standards based on the results of the parliamentary elections that took place this year," the lawmaker added.
He also indicated that the bloc -- which convened under the chairmanship of Free Patriotic Movement's head, Caretaker Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil -- highlighted the necessity of legislation, especially amid the absence of a government.
Tackling the housing loan crisis, the MP said that "Strong Lebanon" bloc would submit an urgent draft law in an attempt to solve the issue.
Roukoz did not fail to greet, in the name of the bloc, the Lebanese army on its national day, hoping the Lebanese people will remain rallied around the military institution.
