The Minister of Culture Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan met with the Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Audrey Azoulay on the sidelines of the 45th extended session of the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO, hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, it was reported today.
At the outset of the meeting, which took place yesterday, the Minister of Culture welcomed UNESCO's Director General in Riyadh, praising the efforts exerted by UNESCO in preserving and protecting heritage. In this regard, the Minister of Culture expressed the Kingdom’s interest and aspiration to host the next UNESCO World Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development (MONDIACULT) scheduled for 2025.
During the meeting, aspects of cooperation between the Kingdom and UNESCO in preserving and protecting world heritage were reviewed.
The Minister of Culture affirmed the Kingdom's continued support for the projects and programs proposed by UNESCO.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Culture Hamed bin Mohammad Fayez, the Assistant Minister of Culture Rakan bin Ibrahim Al-Touq and other senior officials.
