Minister of Energy Engages with Trkiye’s Environment Minister and COP31 President-Designate

Riyadh: Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz met today with Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change of the Republic of Trkiye Murat Kurum, who also serves as the president-designate of the 31st Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC (COP31) to be hosted in Antalya, Trkiye, in November 2026.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the two ministers discussed opportunities to strengthen cooperation on climate action and explored ways to advance the objectives and principles of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Paris Agreement. They also underscored the importance of promoting inclusive, balanced, and practical outcomes that take into account the national circumstances of Parties.

The ministers also reviewed the Kingdom's climate initiatives, including expanding renewable energy, managing, reducing, and removing emissions through the Saudi Green Initiative (SGI), deploying Circular Carbon Economy (CCE) technologies, and advancing other national and regional programs and initiatives, including the Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) and Mission Innovation (MI), which are set to take place in the fourth quarter of this year.
