Minister of Foreign Affairs Speaks with Brazilian Counterpart

Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah spoke by telephone today with Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira of Brazil.

The two ministers discussed the ongoing escalation of military operations in Gaza and its surroundings and the international efforts made in that regard. The Saudi foreign minister emphasized the rejection of targeting defenseless civilians in any way and the importance of respecting the international humanitarian law by all parties. He called for lifting the siege on Gaza.

The Saudi minister urged Brazil, in its capacity as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, to work to ensure that the council fulfills its responsibility to maintain international peace and security by pushing for an immediate cessation of military operations. He stressed the importance of the Security Council’s implementation of its decisions regarding the Palestinian issue, particularly Resolutions 242 in 1967, 338 in 1973, 1515 in 2003, and 2334 in 2016, to establish a just and sustainable solution to the Palestinian issue in accordance with the relevant international references.
