Amman: A statement was issued following the Ministerial Meeting in Support of Jerusalem and its Holy Sites, held today in Amman. The statement reads as follows:

According to Saudi Press Agency, at the invitation of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the foreign ministers of Arab States, including Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Algeria, Iraq, Qatar, Somalia, Palestine, Egypt, Morocco, and Jordan, along with the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, convened in Amman. They were joined by representatives from Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, and Malaysia to address escalating Israeli actions in Jerusalem and the resulting regional tensions.

The attendees condemned Israeli policies aimed at changing the Arab Islamic and Christian identity of occupied Jerusalem, deeming these measures illegal and void. They reiterated that East Jerusalem remains part of the occupied Palestinian territory and emphasized its status as the capital of the State of Palestine. The ministers reaffirmed their commitment to a two-state solution based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine, as the only path to a lasting peace.

The statement condemned Israeli actions at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, including unauthorized incursions and restrictions on worship. It emphasized that the mosque is a place of worship exclusively for Muslims, with the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf as the sole authority overseeing it. The ministers also decried violations targeting Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, including the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

The meeting underscored support for the Hashemite Custodianship over Jerusalem's holy sites and called for international action to halt Israel's policies. They urged the Security Council to intervene against actions that threaten regional peace and the viability of a two-state solution. The ministers rejected unilateral decisions violating Jerusalem's legal status, such as relocating diplomatic missions there.

To counter these challenges, the ministers agreed to establish a mechanism, including a media platform, to document and expose Israeli violations. They proposed a joint ministerial meeting between the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the League of Arab States at the upcoming United Nations General Assembly to address these issues further.
