Ministry of Municipalities and Housing Prepares Makkah Infrastructure for Ramadan

Makkah: The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, represented by the Holy Makkah Municipality, has elevated the readiness of its services for the Ramadan and Umrah season of 1447 AH. Integrated operational and service plans have been implemented to ensure a smooth experience for residents and visitors.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the ministry has upgraded the tunnel network, covering 22,515 linear meters, along with 6,000 linear meters of service tunnels. Maintenance and preparation of 16 bridges and eight main roads have also been completed to support smooth traffic flow and ease pedestrian movement, particularly during peak hours.

The ministry detailed that the total workforce mobilized for these plans includes 13,549 workers, supported by 912 pieces of equipment and machinery. Additionally, more than 47,900 waste containers have been distributed across various locations to intensify round-the-clock public cleaning and environmental sanitation efforts.

The plans place special emphasis on the central area due to its high visitor density. This zone is supported by over 2,100 personnel, more than 430 pieces of equipment, and specific waste management resources to enhance field operation efficiency during peak times.

The ministry affirmed it will continue monitoring operational field readiness throughout Ramadan to ensure sustainable, efficient municipal services in Makkah.
