Riyadh: Municipalities across the Kingdom have prepared public viewing locations to welcome fans watching the Saudi national team's 2026 FIFA World Cup match against Spain as part of an initiative launched by the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing to rally public support for the national team across the Kingdom's cities. The initiative aims to provide a national fan experience in public squares, parks, and public facilities while enhancing the atmosphere of support and encouragement for the Green Falcons.
According to Saudi Press Agency, preparations included installing screens at viewing locations and readying public spaces and supporting services to ensure an organized and integrated experience for families and individuals, while reinforcing the role of municipal facilities as community spaces that host major national and sporting events.
Open venues and urban destinations have been prepared to receive fans, with entry and exit routes organized, essential services provided, and suitable environments created to enable the public to watch the match in a safe and enthusiastic atmosphere. The initiative also highlights national identity by displaying Saudi flags at event venues.
The initiative reflects the ministry's ongoing efforts to activate public squares, parks, and public facilities and boost the role of cities in creating community experiences in line with quality-of-life objectives, reinforcing the status of public spaces as vibrant destinations that bring together residents and visitors around national events.
