Municipalities Ministry Advances Worker Housing Regulation with over 1,360 Licenses

Riyadh: The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing has issued more than 1,360 group housing licenses for individuals, including preliminary licenses, since the mandatory requirement for establishments to accommodate workers in licensed group housing came into effect in September 2025.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the ministry stated that applications for licenses have increased significantly, reflecting growing awareness among establishments of the importance of complying with the approved requirements and their continued efforts to regularize workers' housing, contributing to the organization of the sector and improving the quality of services provided.

It noted that the licensed capacity issued through the Balady platform has reached around one million beneficiaries, enhancing the provision of housing that meets health and regulatory requirements, improving the quality of the group housing environment, and supporting the ministry's objectives of regulating the workers' housing sector.

The ministry urged establishments covered by the decision to complete their licensing procedures and benefit from the digital services available through the Balady platform, while rectifying their status in accordance with the approved requirements. It emphasized that compliance with health, environmental, and regulatory standards contributes to strengthening the sustainability of the sector and improving the quality of the group housing environment for individuals.
