Makkah: The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing has intensified health oversight and food safety operations in Makkah and the holy sites as part of operational preparations for the 1447 AH Hajj season. More than 380 food safety inspectors and 403 environmental sanitation personnel have been deployed in the field.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the ministry confirmed that oversight operations are supported by five advanced laboratories with a capacity of 1,300 samples daily, equivalent to one sample per minute. The laboratories help ensure the safety of food, water, and services provided to pilgrims.
Inspectors conduct more than 2,800 daily inspection visits to food and commercial establishments, contributing to higher compliance levels and enhanced service quality during the season. These efforts come within an integrated oversight ecosystem implemented by the ministry in Makkah and the holy sites. The initiative aims to raise the quality of municipal and health services provided to pilgrims during the Hajj season.
