National Competitiveness Center Boosts Saudi Business Environment with Government Coordination

Riyadh: Since its establishment in 2019, the National Competitiveness Center has played a key role in advancing economic and developmental reforms in close coordination with relevant government entities, significantly contributing to the improvement and attractiveness of Saudi Arabia’s business environment.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the center undertakes 14 key functions, including conducting research and studies on competitiveness, monitoring government entities’ commitment to implementing necessary reforms, and organizing local, regional, and international forums, conferences, and workshops focused on the competitiveness landscape. It also builds partnerships with global organizations and competitiveness development centers.

Through collaboration with more than 65 government entities, the center has implemented over 900 legislative and procedural reforms to improve the regulatory framework and overall competitiveness environment. These efforts have led to notable progress in Saudi Arabia’s ranking across several global competitiveness and ease-of-doing-business indicators, reflecting tangible improvements in the national business climate.

The center continues to enhance Saudi Arabia’s competitiveness and align government strategies under a unified vision to position the Kingdom among the world’s most competitive nations.

As a result of these ongoing efforts, Saudi Arabia rose to 17th place globally among 67 of the world’s most competitive economies, according to the 2025 IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook, up from 39th place in 2018.
