National Society for Human Rights Demands Action Against Houthi Child Recruitment

Hanoi:The National Society for Human Rights has condemned the continued recruitment and exploitation of children by the Houthi militia, highlighting the severe risks to the children's lives, safety, and future. The organization emphasized that these children are being deprived of education and a safe environment, as they are forced into combat operations.

According to Saudi Press Agency, international reports have documented numerous cases of child recruitment by the Houthi militia, with evidence of children being exposed to military content and activities. The society stressed that such practices are severe violations of children's rights and contradict international laws designed to protect children from involvement in armed conflicts.

The society insists that efforts to address child recruitment must extend beyond mere condemnation or documentation of the violations. Concrete actions are needed to stop these practices, release the recruited children, prevent their re-recruitment, and hold perpetrators accountable. The organization has called on the United Nations and the UN Security Council to take decisive action to stop the recruitment and exploitation of children and to enforce international measures to bring those responsible to justice.

The involvement of children in conflicts contributes to ongoing cycles of violence, extremism, and instability, which undermines efforts towards international peace and security. The society also stressed the importance of rehabilitation programs to reintegrate affected children, ensuring their return to their families and schools and providing psychological and social support to help them reclaim their normal lives.

The protection of children, the society emphasized, is urgent, and efforts must shift from merely monitoring and condemning violations to stopping them and ensuring accountability. Children's rightful place is with their families, in schools, and within their communities—not on the battlefield.
