Najran: Oat farming in Najran is emerging as a promising economic option, supporting food security and boosting the region's agricultural economy due to its multiple benefits and favorable growing conditions.

According to Saudi Press Agency, oat cultivation in Najran has successfully developed into a fully integrated economic crop in 2026, offering high-quality nutritional and economic returns at low operational costs, with ease of storage and processing into various forms, including long-shelf canned products, flour, powder, and whole grains.

Agricultural engineer Fahad Al Mustaneer explained that the oat growing season in the region begins in winter, with harvesting in early summer, noting that oats require minimal water consumption, reducing water waste.

He noted that the region's fertile soil, abundant water, and suitable climate have contributed to high-quality, abundant yields, recommending wider cultivation as a promising economic option given its low costs, compatibility with modern drip irrigation technology, fast growth, and disease resistance.
