Cairo: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), in cooperation with the United Nations Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People (CEIRPP), will hold an international conference on Jerusalem in Cairo on Saturday.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the conference will be held under the theme "Jerusalem: The Frontline of Displacement and Annexation and the Key to Achieving a Just and Lasting Peace." It will bring together officials, diplomats, experts, representatives of international and regional organizations, as well as academics and researchers.
The conference aims to highlight Israeli policies of forced displacement and the dispossession of the Palestinian people in Jerusalem through the accelerating Judaization of the city, within the broader context of ongoing policies across the occupied Palestinian territory. The event takes place amid the continuing war in the Gaza Strip and large-scale attacks and forced displacement of Palestinian civilians.
The conference will also highlight the OIC's and the CEIRPP's support for international efforts to relaunch the Middle East peace process based on international law and relevant UN resolutions. These efforts aim to achieve a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace and establish an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967, borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
