Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha congratulated the young men and women in the OIC member states on the occasion of OIC Youth Day.

Taha commended the efforts made by the member states and the initiatives launched by organizations and institutions concerned with supporting youth empowerment and enhancing their participation.

According to the secretary-general, the OIC General Secretariat, in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports in Saudi Arabia and the Chair of the 5th Session of the Islamic Conference of Youth and Sports Ministers (ICYS), chose the slogan for the OIC Youth Day 2023 to be "Youth Volunteerism and Social Responsibility".

Taha urged the organization member states and their institutions to support and promote volunteer work among young people. He emphasized that volunteerism aims at boosting participation that builds human capacities and skills, achieving social solidarity, and expressing the vitality of a society and the readiness of its members to sacrifice and dedicate themselves to bettering their societies.
