Aseer: The road network in Aseer Region is a major enabler of economic development, converting the region's rugged mountainous terrain into a foundation for economic activity through improved connectivity across governorates and centers.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Aseer has more than 150 mountain passes, making road development a strategic priority to facilitate movement and support supply chains for people and goods. Several major passes connect the Sarawat highlands with the Tihama plains.
These mountain roads are built to advanced specifications, including widened lanes, safety barriers, rainwater drainage systems, and supporting infrastructure such as lighting and directional signage.
Overall, these routes strengthen Aseer's connectivity with the rest of the Kingdom, linking to Jazan via coastal roads, to Makkah via Taif, and to Najran Region, thereby supporting commercial transportation and the efficient movement of goods.
This infrastructure development aligns with rapid economic growth in Aseer, where investments have exceeded SAR50 billion and commercial registers have surpassed 91,000. The service and logistics sectors are also expanding, reinforcing the role of road infrastructure in improving commercial efficiency.
