Pilgrims Commemorate Day of Tarwiyah in Mina Following Prophetic Tradition

Mina: On the eighth of Dhu Al-Hijjah, pilgrims across the world made their way to Mina, observing the Day of Tarwiyah in a state of Ihram, as per the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

According to Saudi Press Agency, the Day of Tarwiyah marks a significant step in the pilgrimage, with pilgrims encouraged to leave for Mina before the Dhuhr prayer. While in Mina, they perform the Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha, and Fajr prayers, ensuring to shorten the four-unit prayers without combining them. It is also customary for pilgrims to spend the night in Mina before embarking on the Day of Arafah.

The observance of this day includes performing ghusl, or full-body ritual purification, renewing the intention for Ihram, and frequently reciting the talbiyah while traveling to Mina. At sunrise on the Day of Arafah, pilgrims then proceed from Mina to Arafat, continuing their recitations of talbiyah and takbir, as part of their spiritual journey.
