Riyadh Global Medical Biotechnology Summit Discusses Future of Biotechnology, Investment, and Innovation

Riyadh: Riyadh Global Medical Biotechnology Summit 2026 (RGMBS) continued its activities yesterday on its second day, featuring a number of scientific sessions addressing the future of biotechnology and investment in the sector, the development of research, innovation, and biomanufacturing ecosystems, as well as immunology, bioengineering, and synthetic biology.

According to Saudi Press Agency, several sessions covered how artificial intelligence can advance the biotechnology sector, including opportunities to accelerate scientific research and innovation and support the development of biological solutions and applications.

The sessions focused on the future of immunology, including cancer immunology and interactions between the immune and nervous systems, as well as the implications of scientific advances for understanding diseases and improving diagnosis and treatment.

They examined the role of bioengineering and synthetic biology in supporting the National Biotechnology Strategy, building research capabilities, and the potential of genetic systems engineering and gene-editing technologies, including CRISPR, to develop cell-based therapies.
