Roads Authority, UNDP Forge MoU to Boost Global Collaboration

Riyadh: The Roads General Authority (RGA) has signed a joint memorandum of understanding with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), aimed at enhancing cooperation and expanding international partnerships within the roads sector.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the agreement falls within the framework of the authority's ongoing efforts to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the roads sector, as well as to strengthen its presence in specialized international forums, in alignment with the objectives of the roads sector program.

The MoU emphasizes activating mechanisms for exchanging expertise between the two parties across multiple areas, as well as developing scientific studies and research in line with international best practices.

Through this collaboration with the UNDP, the RGA aims to integrate local standards with international expertise, while strengthening partnerships that foster innovation, improve safety, and enhance the overall quality of the road network.

The Roads General Authority reaffirmed its commitment to the ongoing implementation of key projects and initiatives designed to enhance and develop the quality of the road network. These objectives include reducing road fatalities to fewer than 5 per 100,000 people, achieving a global ranking of sixth place in the Road Quality Index by 2030, and ensuring that the road network complies with the traffic safety standards set by the International Road Assessment Programme (IRAP).
