Rppell’s Weaver Graces Aseer’s Treetops as Breeding Season Begins

Jeddah: In the treetops, along valley edges, and across the farmlands of Aseer Region, the Rppell’s Weaver (Ploceus galbula) emerges in its golden yellow plumage, carrying blades of grass in its beak to begin crafting one of nature’s most masterful nests.

According to Saudi Press Agency, during the breeding season, males collect soft grasses and plant fibers, especially after rainfall. They then select a high, secure branch to build nests that may determine their chances of attracting a mate.

Each season, weaver birds adorn trees with dozens of nests, creating a scene that combines beauty and engineering precision. Simple blades of grass are transformed into an intricate home, a story of survival that begins with a branch and ends with a nest cradling new life, reflecting nature’s remarkable capacity for adaptation and ingenuity.
