Russian air strikes on the Ukrainian capital

Several explosions were heard in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, today, Friday, after the authorities issued a warning of air strikes across the country.

The mayor of Kiev, Vitali Klitschko, asked the residents to stay in the shelters, and Klitschko wrote on Telegram, "There are explosions in the city ... stay in the shelters."

Kiev officials said the air defenses were performing their tasks, while the air force said Russia had fired hypersonic missiles into the Kiev region.

The Ukrainian Public Broadcasting Corporation reported explosions in Vinnytsia and Khmelnytskyi regions.

An official from Khmelnitsky said that the air defense in the region is performing its tasks.
