The General Company for the manufacture of medicines and medical supplies in Samarra announced, on Monday, its success in producing zinc pills (25 mg) for the first time in Iraq, for the purpose of introducing it to the local market soon.
The company's Director General, Abd al-Rahman Abbas Tohme, said in a statement, "The research and scientific staff in the research and development department, in cooperation with the staff working in the grain department, managed to produce zinc pills with a concentration of (25) mg and at the rate of (25) thousand strips."
He explained that zinc "is used in the treatment of cases of zinc deficiency or as nutritional supplements in conditions of zinc loss, which may occur as a result of inadequate diet, poor absorption, or as a result of trauma or burns. Zinc is also used
in hereditary dermatitis.”
