Saudi Arabia and Islamic Nations Denounce U.S. Ambassador’s Statements on Israeli Control Over Arab Territories

Riyadh: The Ministries of Foreign Affairs from Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Indonesia, Pakistan, Egypt, Trkiye, Syria, Palestine, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, and Bahrain, along with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), League of Arab States (LAS), and Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) have expressed strong condemnation and deep concern over recent statements made by the U.S. Ambassador to Israel. The ambassador suggested that it would be permissible for Israel to exercise control over territories belonging to Arab states, including the occupied West Bank.

According to Saudi Press Agency, these ministries and organizations have categorically rejected the ambassador's remarks, labeling them as a violation of international law and the United Nations Charter. They emphasized that such statements threaten regional security and stability. The ministries noted that these comments contradict the vision laid out by former U.S. President Donald J. Trump and the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict, both of which focus on de-escalation and the creation of a political framework for a comprehensive settlement that ensures an independent Palestinian state.

The ministries reiterated that Israel lacks sovereignty over the Occupied Palestinian Territory and other occupied Arab lands. They firmly opposed any attempts to annex the West Bank or separate it from the Gaza Strip, and they strongly rejected the expansion of settlements in these territories. The ministries also warned that Israel's ongoing expansionist policies could further inflame violence and conflict, undermining peace prospects.

Lastly, the ministries reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state based on the borders of 4 June 1967, calling for an end to the occupation of all Arab lands.
