United nations: Permanent Representative of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations Abdulaziz Alwasil emphasized the importance of closely monitoring developments in the Gulf region, particularly in the Strait of Hormuz, describing it as a critical artery of the global economy.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Alwasil, speaking at the Security Council's meeting yesterday on the safety and protection of waterways in the maritime domain, stated that any threat to freedom of navigation has a direct impact on the stability of energy markets, global supply chains, and international economic security.

He stressed that the security of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz is a collective responsibility that requires adherence to international law, strengthened international cooperation to safeguard freedom of navigation, and full compliance with Security Council Resolution 2817 of 2026.

He also reaffirmed the Kingdom's support for international and regional efforts aimed at de-escalation and ending the war, including ongoing mediation initiatives led by Pakistan.

Alwasil further called on the Security Council to explicitly condemn the Iranian attacks that the Kingdom has faced since the beginning of the crisis.
