Riyadh:The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has implemented new precautionary measures aimed at mitigating the risks associated with the Ebola virus, following epidemiological assessments by national health authorities.
According to Saudi Press Agency, these measures include suspending travel for Saudi citizens to the Republic of Kenya, halting visa issuance for individuals arriving from Kenya, and barring entry to travelers coming directly from Kenya or transiting through other countries if they have stayed in Kenya or any other nation with an active Ebola outbreak within the 21 days preceding their arrival in Saudi Arabia.
These directives are an extension of preventive protocols that have been in place since July 2019 and were reinforced in May 2026 for travelers from high-risk countries. This proactive approach is part of ongoing coordination with local and international health agencies to assess risks, protect the health of citizens, residents, and visitors, and contribute to global health security.
In June 2026, Saudi Arabia had already suspended travel to and from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan, while enhancing surveillance and entry-point screening for travelers arriving from nearby regions.
The Public Health Authority assured that the health situation within the Kingdom remains stable and under constant monitoring. It continues to track regional and international epidemiological trends in partnership with relevant bodies, taking all necessary preventive actions to ensure response readiness and public safety.
