RIYADH: The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has launched its first aid shipment to Syria, marking the beginning of a comprehensive humanitarian effort. The initial dispatch includes essential food, shelter, and medical supplies, which departed from King Khalid International Airport and is en route to Damascus International Airport. This initiative underscores Saudi Arabia’s ongoing commitment to supporting nations in crisis.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, Advisor to the Royal Court and Supervisor General of KSrelief, announced that this airlift would be complemented by a land bridge in the coming days. This strategic plan is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader mission to offer humanitarian assistance globally. Dr. Al Rabeeah highlighted the Kingdom’s sustained support since the onset of the Syrian crisis in 2011, emphasizing its significant contributions to international humanitarian aid efforts.

Saudi Arabia, through KSrelief, has been a pivotal provider of aid to internally displaced Syrians and refugees in neighboring countries. The Kingdom also extended critical support to the victims of the northern Syrian earthquake in February 2023. From the beginning of the Syrian crisis in 2011 through the end of 2024, Saudi Arabia’s aid to Syria totaled $856,891,000, reflecting its ongoing commitment to humanitarian relief efforts.
