Riyadh: Saudi Arabia announced that its air defenses successfully intercepted and destroyed several drones launched from Iraq, which were targeting crucial oil facilities in the Eastern Province and the capital, Riyadh. The incident marks a significant escalation in regional tensions, as the attack was aimed at vital infrastructure within the kingdom.

According to Deutsche Welle, the Saudi Defense Ministry stated that the drones were launched by Iran-backed armed groups operating within Iraq. The ministry confirmed that the attempted attacks were thwarted before they could reach their intended targets, ensuring the safety of the kingdom's key oil facilities.

In response to the incident, Saudi Arabia's Foreign Ministry condemned the attack and emphasized the kingdom's right to respond to what it termed as "aggression." The ministry reiterated its commitment to deterring those responsible for such actions and protecting the nation's sovereignty.

Furthermore, Riyadh urged the Iraqi government to take necessary actions to prevent its territory from being used as a launchpad for attacks against Saudi Arabia. The kingdom called on Baghdad to implement measures to halt any future operations aimed at destabilizing the region.
