New york: Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations Dr. Abdulaziz Alwasil chaired a session titled "Protecting Major Sporting Events: Delivery and Legacy in an Era of Complex Threats." During the session, he emphasized the importance of sharing expertise and strengthening international cooperation to enhance event safety and security. He noted that Saudi Arabia's hosting of the FIFA World Cup 2034 presents an opportunity to strengthen partnerships, build capacity, and leave a lasting legacy.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the ambassador outlined the Kingdom's comprehensive preparations, which combine advanced security measures, modern technologies, capacity-building initiatives, and cooperation with international partners to address emerging threats. He further stressed the importance of coordination and cooperation among countries and relevant stakeholders to ensure the security and safety of major sporting events.
