Saudi Arabia Participates in 2nd HLG-IGIF Meeting in New York

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information (GEOSA), has participated in the second meeting of the High-Level Group of the Integrated Geospatial Information Framework (HLG-IGIF) at the United Nations Building in New York, headed by the GEOSA President, Dr. Mohammed bin Yahya Al-Sayel.

The meeting discussed the strategic plan, current priority goals, and work progress.

Al-Sayel gave a presentation on programs and workshops that have been conducted on the Integrated Framework for Geospatial Information and the recommendations of the ninth meeting of the Arab Committee of United Nations Experts for Geospatial Information Management related to the Integrated Framework for Geospatial Information Team in the Arab Committee.

The panel discussion dealt with the main challenges and opportunities the Arab Committee can deal with to strengthen communication among the member states and implement the nine strategic tracks to serve each country's national interest. In conclusion, the efforts of the Arab countries and their contributions to the HLG-IGIF plans were reviewed.

The team discussed the mechanism of cooperation with the Thematic Working Groups represented by the academic and private sector networks.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by GEOSA, chairs the Arab Committee of United Nations Experts for the Management of Geospatial Information and assumes the Committee Secretariat and its membership in the United Nations Committee of Experts for the Management of Global Geospatial Information.
