Saudi Arabia Participates in ECOSOC’s Meeting in New York

New York, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – represented by the Communications, Space & Technology Commission (CITC) – participated in the coordination work of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), which was held at the United Nations headquarters in New York.

Director General of International Affairs at CITC, Eng. Mansour Al-Qurashi – who occupies the post of Chairman of the United Nations Commission on Science and Technology for Development (CSTD) – reviewed the role of the Kingdom and highlighted its efforts and contributions in the framework of cooperation with the international community by strengthening the digital infrastructure of developing countries and harnessing their resources to develop the telecommunications and technology sector.

With the participation of the chairmen of the specialized committees of ECOSOC and a number of high-level officials from governments, the private sector, civil society, academic bodies, and international and regional organizations, the meeting dealt with drawing future directions and ensuring coordination and planning among the chairmen of the committees, in order to achieve the goals of the United Nations related to harnessing communication technology and IT for development purposes.
