Jeddah:On behalf of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Governor of Makkah Region Prince Saud bin Mishal bin Abdulaziz awarded the Khaleeji 27 trophy to the Saudi national team. The team secured the 27th Arabian Gulf Cup with a 2-0 victory over the United Arab Emirates in the final match held at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah, marking Saudi Arabia's fourth title in the competition's history.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the final was attended by several dignitaries, including Minister of Sport and President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal, FIFA President Gianni Infantino, and numerous princes and officials.
The Minister of Sport expressed gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for his support of the tournament. He emphasized the importance of the Arabian Gulf Cup, highlighting its significant sporting and historical value for the Gulf countries. He congratulated the Saudi leadership on the national team's success and praised the Saudi fans for their steadfast support.
Additionally, he acknowledged the exemplary sportsmanship and competitive spirit of all participating teams and extended his appreciation to the organizing bodies, committees, staff, and volunteers whose efforts ensured the tournament's success.
Jeddah hosted the Arabian Gulf Cup for the first time from September 23 to October 6. The event featured eight national teams competing in 15 matches at King Abdullah Sports City and Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Sports City.
