Saudi Sadu Accompanies Green Falcons at FIFA World Cup 2026

Riyadh: The Royal Institute of Traditional Arts (Wrth) continues to showcase Saudi cultural identity on the global stage through the design and production of commemorative exchange pennants for the Saudi national team at the FIFA World Cup 2026. These pennants are inspired by Sadu weaving, a UNESCO-recognized element of intangible cultural heritage, blending tradition with contemporary design.

According to Saudi Press Agency, used in pre-match exchanges between team captains as a symbol of mutual respect, the Saudi pennants feature traditional Sadu motifs. These motifs reflect values of belonging, generosity, and social cohesion, alongside colors inspired by the Kingdom's natural landscapes and desert lavender blooms.

Handcrafted by students of Wrth's Traditional Weaving (Sadu) Apprenticeship Program, the pennants highlight the transfer of traditional skills across generations. They serve as cultural ambassadors, introducing global audiences to Saudi Arabia's rich heritage as the national team prepares to face Spain at the World Cup.
