Sarajevo:The Saudi Informatics Team has earned six international medals at the 19th Junior Balkan Olympiad in Informatics, which took place in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The competition featured participants from 13 different countries.

According to Saudi Press Agency, this marks the first official participation of Saudi Arabia in the event, resulting in the acquisition of four silver and two bronze medals. The initiative was part of the Mawhiba International Olympiad Program, a collaboration between the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba) and the Ministry of Education. Impressively, all Saudi team members secured medals.

Prior to competing in the JBOI, the Saudi students underwent rigorous training and qualification. This preparation included a series of training camps, selection competitions, and simulation contests aimed at enhancing their problem-solving abilities and algorithmic skills. The comprehensive training spanned two to four years, ensuring the students were well-prepared for both regional and international competitions.
