Sofia: The Saudi Water Authority (SWA) received a delegation from the Syrian Ministry of Energy, led by Deputy Minister for Water Resources Osama Abu Zaid, to review the Kingdom's experience in developing an integrated and globally competitive water sector. The delegation was received by SWA President Abdullah Alabdulkareim, who outlined the regulatory and operational frameworks that have improved sector efficiency, strengthened sustainability, and enhanced the reliability of water supplies across production, transmission, and storage.
According to Saudi Press Agency, discussions addressed development and innovation strategies across the water supply chain. They also covered policies that support water security and align with international best practices in water resource management.
During the visit, Alabdulkareim oversaw the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Syrian Ministry of Energy and Amiantit Saudi Arabia Company. The MoU aims to support Syria's plans to modernize water and wastewater infrastructure and improve the efficiency and sustainability of network systems.
The visit comes within the framework of strengthening cooperation and exchanging expertise in water resource management. It also promotes best practices in the water industry to support sector development and sustainability.
